It Takes a Village: Minds Matter Seattle’s 2019 Spring Soiree
May 16, 2019 marked our 6th Annual Spring Soiree, where Minds Matter Seattle supporters came out to celebrate our students and give back to our program.
This year’s event centered on how “it takes a village” –only by support from many individuals that Minds Matter Seattle students are able to achieve their dreams. Our volunteers and donors are the reason why our high-potential students get the opportunity to explore their college and career options in a collaborative, safe environment.
And support they did – that evening, we raised $68,000, a whopping 70% more than our event goal. These funds came through a lively paddle raise and a locally-sourced silent auction of gifts from businesses in Seattle and the surrounding area.
In addition to these activities, the event was also the first look at our new video sharing alumna Diana’s story. Diana moved to the USA from Mexico as a child, and Minds Matter Seattle helped her get into University of Washington, where she is studying medicine through a social justice lens.

We want to recognize our donors near and far for giving so generously. In addition, a huge thank-you to our silent auction donors, and our corporate sponsors who helped to make our 2019 Spring Soiree a low-cost, high-impact event (listed below).
