Event Recap: 2017 Spring Soiree

A Night to Remember

Seattle stepped up for education of April 27, 2017 at Minds Matter of Seattle’s 4th Annual Spring Soiree. Our biggest fundraiser of the year reached new heights, with attendance and donations both tripling over the same event in 2016.

The Soiree was held on a sunny Thursday evening at the Sole Repair Shop on Capitol Hill. 130 guests streamed in from 6pm onward to enjoy cocktails and bites, mingle with fellow supporters and volunteers, and give to the program through a Seattle-themed silent auction, wine toss activity, and formal ask.

Halfway through the event, our speaker panel captivated the audience. VP of Academics Nicole A. shared the year’s achievements, followed by Zenzile M., a passionate volunteer and morning math instructor. Our spotlight speaker was a first-year alumni of MMSEA, Diana L.

Diana shared her story of immigrating to the USA from Mexico, her struggle in school as an English-as-a-Second-Language (ESL) student, and how MMSEA turned things around for her, aiding in her acceptance into University of Washington as a 2016 freshman.

MMSEA Volunteers

Happy volunteers – Jonathan, Jen & Theo!

As a result of the Soiree, $13,000 was raised in donations to the MMSEA program. This means the costs for 6 Sophomore/Junior students to attend summer programs in the 2017-2018 school year are covered in full! Additionally, the event helped to spread the message of the MMSEA cause within the Seattle community.

2017 Corporate Event Sponsors

The operational costs of the event were covered by our generous corporate sponsors. Their contributions allowed for all night-of donations to go directly towards our students and program.
